MAX
Vickie, just wanted to update you on Max. He is fitting in very nicely with our family. He and Miki love each other.  Max has learned to ring the bell on the back door or he can get Miki to do it for him.  We took him to the vet for a complete check-up.  He's doing fine. The shaking, she too thinks is from the distemper.  Max loves his baths, but we have a little trouble with the sound of the grinder when trimming his nails.  Max finally comes to me and loves me up all the time.  He gets so excited when he is kissing and licking your face that he nips.  Sometimes that hurts so we are working on that problem and he is getting better. Vickie, thank you again for giving us Max. He has brought so much joy to our hearts and keeps Miki entertained for hours. They crate together at night. Thank God I have my bed back.

DONATE HERE! The Animals Thank You!
ISIS & OSIRIS
I had the pleasure of adopting two beautiful puppies during the BARC adoption fair last March, and as a result of this my life was doubly blessed. At first I was only going to adopt one dog, since cats inhabit my home and I wanted to introduce a new dog into the home in small doses. However I opted to adopt both a brother and sister puppy so that the family unit would stay together and being separated from their sibling would not traumatize them. I named the two pups Isis & Osiris and from the moment I brought them home they have been a source of love and joy in my life. It’s wonderful to see them coming out of their shell and socializing with the cats (who get along surprisingly well with them). They love to run and play, make friends with other dogs in the park and they are always glad to see me.
I strongly urge anyone adopting a pet from the animal shelter to consider adopting sibling/litter mates or an additional companion if there are no siblings. The advantages are numerous: It spares the animals the trauma of being separated from their siblings (imagine if you were a human child in an orphanage and you brother/sister was adopted and you were left behind-how horrible would that be??!!!). They can keep each other company while you are away and not get lonely waiting for you to come home. They will adjust better to their new surroundings if they have some companionship. The cost of an extra animal is nominal compared to the love and joy these babies will bring into your life. But most importantly, you will be helping to solve the problem of animal over population in overcrowded shelters. In short, you will be saving multiple lives and therefore be multiply blessed.
